For cybersmart we had to make a short Gif about sunsmart @ Saint Marys. I found it a bit tricky to make the slides so Cameron helped me.

Today for reading we have been learning how to identify the main points. We had to write words that are like peace inside of a Albatross feather because the people of Parihaka said it will be a sign of peace. I liked doing the feather and the writing in it. I found tricky what i should write. Next time I would change the words I wrote. Here is my Feather:
Today it's All Saints Day and we are doing this slide because its all saints are go getters. On All Saints Day we pray to out=r saints and think about how we could become one too.
Do you know that YOU could be a saint too?
For Reading we were learning to state arguments for and against.
I found it easy to do the no skateboards should be allowed on footpaths because I didn't have to think so much about it. I found the other 2 tricky because I had to think a lot and remember it when I was writing about it.
Do you think hats should be worn outside by everyone? Why or why not?
My Frida Kahlo art is finished. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist.
She has a big flower on her head.
She has big greenstone earrings.
Here is my Frida kahlo art.
It is the end of the month and we are reflecting on what we have done. I am most proud of my speech. You can read about it on my newsletter.
What are you proud of this month?
This week I was learning structure and this is me mrr wolf first degree murder.
I found trickey to find out what to do but.
I found easy to put a background in
In writing I was learning how to paragraph. I had to stick to one topic in each paragraph. We were leasning about New Zealanders who went to to the Tokyo Olympics. I chose Tom Walsh.
Here is my report.
Tom Walsh
Born 1st of March. Place of birth is Timaru. Tom Walsh went to Timaru Boys High School. He played rugby and cricket. His weight is 120kg. His height is 1.85 metres. His parents are Peter Walsh and Karen Walsh. His siblings is Bill Walsh. His Age is 29 years. He got a gold medal in 2019. He is the 6th best shot putter in history.
For reading we are learning how to summarise. When you summarise you say the main point in your own words but shorter.
We were reading about Maori healing plants. I learnt that harakeke can be used for sore backs. We summarised what we read and now we are making signs to put in our native garden to show people what the trees are and what they heal.
This is my writing but I did not get it done because I was to busy talking but I should of done it but next time I will.
This week I was writing a explanation. My learning intention was to use correct punctuation. I think I did a little better at it this time.
It was hard to find facts because my chromebook was flat. I went to the library and found books instead.
How does a seal survives in cold?
There are 14 species of sea lion. Seal are called pinnipeds and they are carnivores.
have you ever wondered how seals can survive in cold arctic water down to 1'8c to 1'0c. In this piece of writing i will show you. There are 14 different species of seals are a carnivore and some can be vicious and eat other seals. some eat sharks. They eat penguins and fish and krill but it's not just seals hunting other things but the seals have a predator it is killer whales. Seals can live on land and water and seals have lots of fat to keep warm.
For Cybersmart we have been creating a game on Gamefroot. We are learning to code, I had to get some help from James as I had coded it wrong. I had coded my player into the background code, instead of putting my player into it's own coded folder. I am enjoying creating a game, I think I am doing quite well so far, I have called my game The Ultimate Survivor. Here is my game so far,
Today for writing we were doing our June Reflection's, I am learning how to reflect on my learning in June, we do this every month to look back on what we have learnt and to see what learning we can improve on next month. This is my first full month I have been at St Mary's School, I enjoy being at this school. I have made some new friends in my class.
I enjoyed reflecting on what I have been learning this month. My digital object shows I can take a selfie, add it to my work and screenshot my work to upload it on my blog.
Firstly, we made an avatar it had to look like me. Then we had to claim a slide to type our invitation on, once we typed out our invitation we changed the background and added our avatar. Here is the inside of my invitation.
it was hard to make my invitation
How do caterpillars transform into a butterfly?
A caterpillar is the wormlike larva of an insect and usually turns into a butterfly or a moth. Did you know that caterpillars turn into butterflies?
They shed their skin four to five times in their life. The female butterfly lays eggs. Caterpillars grow and hatch in a few weeks. Then the caterpillars hatch out of the eggs. A caterpillar eats a lot to get ready for hibernation. A caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. They find a safe place to make a cocoon. The spot they need needs lots of twigs to make a cocoon. Then the cocoon hardens to stop predators and bad weather. Then the caterpillar goes in the cocoon. The caterpillar slowly forms into a butterfly. The cocoon splits in half and the butterfly goes on top of the cocoon and sits there to dry its wings. Then it kicks the cocoon and flies away and goes to eat flowers. Then it goes and lays eggs and repeats the cycle. There are lots of different caterpillars species and lots of different species of butterflies.
This week for reading I was learning to infer. Inferring is when the author puts clues in a book and you have to work it out by reading the text to find the clues.
I enjoyed reading The Adventures of Cleo the homing cow. I liked the parts when she won the cow contest, how she ran away and then when they caught her and put her in the trailer.
This week is Samoan Language week, we have been learning patterns to make our own Tapa cloth. It is made out of card, brown crayons and dye. First I marked out the patterns with my pencil, then I coloured in the patterns with the brown crayon and finally I put the dye onto the Tapa cloth.
Here is my Tapa cloth design
This week I have been learning how to draw a sprite art using a website called Piskel. We learnt this in our Cybersmart class. This is my first time using this website, we were making the Sprite to upload onto Scratch to create our very own game.
I enjoyed learning how to use the tools and it was easy and I had fun designing him, I choose to recreate a octopus with a hat. I have finished him, I hope we get to do it again.
Nau mai, haere mai!
Welcome to my blog for learning.
I look forward to sharing my learning with my school,
my whānau and friends everywhere.
