How do caterpillars transform into a butterfly?
A caterpillar is the wormlike larva of an insect and usually turns into a butterfly or a moth. Did you know that caterpillars turn into butterflies?
They shed their skin four to five times in their life. The female butterfly lays eggs. Caterpillars grow and hatch in a few weeks. Then the caterpillars hatch out of the eggs. A caterpillar eats a lot to get ready for hibernation. A caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. They find a safe place to make a cocoon. The spot they need needs lots of twigs to make a cocoon. Then the cocoon hardens to stop predators and bad weather. Then the caterpillar goes in the cocoon. The caterpillar slowly forms into a butterfly. The cocoon splits in half and the butterfly goes on top of the cocoon and sits there to dry its wings. Then it kicks the cocoon and flies away and goes to eat flowers. Then it goes and lays eggs and repeats the cycle. There are lots of different caterpillars species and lots of different species of butterflies.

Kia Ora Fynley,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece of explanation writing, I can see you have been working really hard this week to meet your success criteria. I really like how you have used a rhetorical question in your title to hook your reader in. Maybe next time you could add a diagram of how caterpillars transform into butterflies.
